Every Day is a New Day
I was teaching a post-op class Back to Basics and we were discussing the importance of physical activity to prevent weight regain. One of the group members stated she was getting up 30 minutes earlier to fit exercise into her day. She was experiencing the feeling we know all too well, “Ugh. I don’t want to get up. I’ll hit snooze and give it another 7 minutes.” She was practicing turning this negative thought into a positive thought.
This discussion brought to my mind an Evian Water print advertisement from years ago. There was a different photo in each ad but it always showed a person exercising and the caption read, “Another day. Another chance to feel healthy.” I would tear the page out of the magazine and tape it to my bathroom mirror as a motivator. That tag line has always stuck in my head because every day is a new day. Every day we have another chance to get it right. When the alarm goes off in the morning instead of groaning, look at it as a new day to eat healthy, move more, and feel good. And we take it one day at a time.
