About Amanda C. VanderClay MD, FACS

Amanda C. VanderClay M.D., F.A.C.S. (Fellow of the American College of Surgeons) is a Board Certified General Surgeon who recently joined our practice from another group in Reno. Having grown up in San Diego, Dr. VanderClay attended college at the prestigious Cornell University. She received her Medical Degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and completed her general surgery training at the University of New Mexico.

Dr. VanderClay’s interests include Advanced & Robotic Hernia Repair, gallbladder surgery, skin and soft tissue tumors, and surgery for Conditions of the Breast (cancerous and non-cancerous) and has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery techniques.

Dr. VanderClay is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She is currently serving as the Chief of Surgery at Renown South Meadows. She has an interest in teaching, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and serves as the Director of Electives and helps with the surgery clerkship for third year medical students.

Dr. VanderClay believes that everyone should encounter a friendly, comfortable healthcare environment and have the opportunity to have all of their questions answered at every visit. She enjoys teaching patients about their symptoms and medical problems so that together they can make a personalized treatment plan.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter, exploring the local trails, trying new recipes and knitting.
