About James C. Nunley, MD, FACS

James C. Nunley, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. A native of Northern California, Dr. Nunley earned his undergraduate degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and completed medical school at Columbia University in New York. He completed his internship and general surgery residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington.

Dr. Nunley’s clinical interests include colorectal disorders, laparoscopic colon surgery, and general surgery, with a particular focus on advanced and robotic hernia repair and gallbladder surgery.

He previously served as a general surgeon in the United States Army, completing two tours in Iraq and receiving multiple service medals. Dr. Nunley has held leadership roles including Trauma Medical Director, Assistant Chief of Surgery, and past Chief of Surgery at both Renown South Meadows and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. He also serves on the Robotic Surgery Steering Committee at Northern Nevada Medical Center.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Nunley enjoys jogging, golfing, and spending time with his wife and children.
