About Amanda C. VanderClay MD, FACS
Amanda C. VanderClay, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She recently joined Western Surgical Group after practicing with another group in Reno. Originally from San Diego, Dr. VanderClay attended Cornell University for her undergraduate education and earned her medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery training at the University of New Mexico.
Dr. VanderClay’s clinical interests include advanced and robotic hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, skin and soft tissue tumors, and surgery for both cancerous and non-cancerous breast conditions. She also has a strong interest in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques.
She is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and currently serves as Chief of Surgery at Renown South Meadows. Dr. VanderClay is actively involved in medical education as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, where she serves as Director of Electives and helps with the third-year medical student surgery clerkship.
Dr. VanderClay believes in providing a friendly, comfortable healthcare environment and prioritizes clear communication so patients feel informed and confident in their care decisions.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter, exploring local trails, trying new recipes, and knitting.
