Third Annual Free Lap-Band Contest Begins Today, Monday, March 26th

RENO, NV – March 26, 2012 – Western Bariatric Institute, a leading weight management clinic headquartered in Reno, Nevada, and the Surgery Center of Reno, have announced the launch of their third annual Free Lap-Band Procedure Contest. Essay entries will be accepted starting today, Monday, March 26th through Friday, April 13th.

The winner of the contest will receive one Lap-Band® System Surgery performed by Dr. Ganser, a board certified surgeon, at Western Bariatric Institute. Lap-Band® is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure where an adjustable gastric band is placed on the upper stomach. This technique has proven to be an effective obesity treatment for hundreds of thousands of patients worldwide.

Five finalists will be selected by a team of medical professionals from Western Bariatric Institute, and their video story will be posted to the website. Then, our local community will cast votes for the winner. While the winner will receive the Free Lap Band surgery and follow-up care, the four finalists also will be awarded prizes. They will receive gym memberships and nutritional counseling, compliments of St. Mary’s Center for Health and Fitness, Eagle Fitness in Carson City, and iMetabolic Metabolic Weight Loss Center.

Last year’s Lap-Band contest winner, David Snyder of Reno, Nevada, has lost over 60 pounds. The 29-year-old mental health counselor recently commented, “When I was notified that I had won the contest, I could not believe it! I had so much to give in this life and my weight was holding me back. Now, I can do activities that I only had dreamed possible.” David added, “The procedure and follow-up was much easier and simpler than I thought it would be, and I hope that this year’s winner enjoys the benefits of weight-loss that I have had the opportunity to experience.”

The contest is open to all persons 18 years and older and who reside in the Reno/Carson City/Lake Tahoe area.
